The Rome Cavalieri is set for an exciting year.
With modernisation at the forefront of extensive plans, the hotel seems impressively in touch with the technologically minded world of 2016.
Aiming to attract millennials while retaining the original aesthetic of the building, the Cavalieri has entered into a partnership with Rome-based architects Studio Papiri International.
The multi-million revamp includes: updating nine corner suites, sprucing up the panoramic roof garden and the addition of a luxurious lounge for private events, The Atelier.
I met Alessandro M Cabella, managing director of the Rome Cavalieri, for breakfast in the Hilton Park Lane, where he explained the hotel’s new look.
“When I first arrived at the entrance of the hotel, I saw a beautiful 50-year-old lady, but I knew she needed a bit of a spice up.”
Cabella added that the hotel was revamping its website.
“We want to change the way we present pictures of the hotel, to entice guests,” he said.
Also on the cards is a new app to help streamline the guest experience; development for this starts in July.
Creative plans extend into 2017, with the three-Michelin-star La Pergola set for a makeover.
“We need to make it sleeker and renewed,” Cabella said.
Although he has his sights on modernisation, future developments will not affect the outside appearance of the hotel.
“We don’t want to alienate our older guests,” he added.
But the hotel is keeping in touch with the expectations of the modern client.
With additions like the Very Important Pets programme, an animal boutique with doggy spa and dog-walking services, visitors can relax while their pets are looked after.
This year, a special resident ambassador was appointed: “Her name is Miss Astoria, a little dachshund – she is very glamorous,” explained Cabella.
For clients looking for a more thrilling stay, the Super-Car Experience is sure to get any petrolhead revved up.
With vehicles from a Ferrari California to a Maserati convertible, guests can take a four-hour driving tour of the famous Mille Miglia route (from £664).
Further automotive developments are in the pipeline.
Cabella said: “We have an Aston Martin Vantage S and the licence plate is 007.
We are going to let guests take the car and drive around the locations from the film Spectre.”
With all this new investment I bet Mr Bond himself wouldn’t mind checking into the Rome Cavalieri.
