Beach and beyond
Just 30 minutes’ drive from Tampa International airport (or 90 minutes from Orlando), St. Pete-Clearwater is a very well-rounded destination. The area’s 35 miles of white-sand beaches have consistently been named among the best in TripAdvisor’s Travellers Choice Awards and St. Pete’s was recently named America’s number one beach – and the world’s fifth best beach.
Clearwater Beach – which was voted Best Beach in the South by USA Today – is also a hub of activity with a nightly celebration at Pier 60 filled with crafters, buskers and live music, and is a great place to watch the sunset. Meanwhile, on laid-back St. Pete Beach visitors can parasail or go stand-up paddleboarding.
Downtown, visitors can find awe-inspiring art and culture including the world-famous Dali Museum with the most comprehensive collection of Salvador Dali’s works outside of Spain. The city has hundreds of street murals that grow in number throughout the annual Shine Mural Festival. Further museums line the downtown area, housing Dale Chihuly’s blown glass collection, fine art, western history exhibitions and more. There is something for all ages.
