The Vltava, the Czech Republic’s longest river, at 267 miles, merges with the more famous River Elbe and flows into the Bohemia region, which includes the landmark Bohemia Forest.
The cruise, on Elbe Princess, which includes all meals, drinks and excursions, sails to Stechovice, famous for its gold mines and pottery. Guests can also visit Konopiste Castle, a Habsburg Castle famous as the last home of Archduke Franz Ferdinand before his assassination.
The cruise then sails past numerous castles and grandiose homes before reaching the Slapy Reservoir at the foot of the Slapy dam.
After sailing back to Prague and re-joining The Elbe, the ship then offers time to take in the capital before cruising to Melnik, the home of composer Anthony Dvorak, from where excursions to Dresden and Litomerice can be taken.
On the seventh and last full day the cruise offers the opportunity to visit the Elbe Sandstone Mountains and the Konigstein Fortress.
