The open-top sightseeing tour operator also said it was the first UK travel company to use the Magento 2.0 e-commerce platform.
It was designed and developed by Born, and orientates visitors across each city, providing destination highlight overviews, city holiday tips and guidance on the most suitable city sightseeing tour option for their needs.
The site also integrates a more streamlined, easy to use booking function that also allows travellers to purchase further attraction tickets in advance, ensuring users can plan their city adventure ahead of time and maximise their city travel experience, through one single transaction.
The revamp also reflected the need to allow users to seek information via mobile devices, as well as providing a more mobile-friendly shopping experience. So far, the new platform has already seen overall traffic to the Big Bus Tours site increase by 40%, with a growth of 14% organic search traffic, year-on-year.
Last year saw Big Bus Tours experience a 53% increase in mobile traffic.
Alex Payne, chief customer officer at Big Bus Tours, said: “Big Bus Tours prides itself on listening to our customers and placing their needs at the forefront of company developments.
"With substantial research undertaken across all markets over the past year, we have found the online experience – particularly by mobile device – imperative to the customer journey. As the only travel company in the UK to use such a platform we see this as a game-changer for the industry, the platform enables us to quickly adapt to ensure ease of use for our customers ahead of, and during, travel.”
