Now with over half of its airline partners connected to the 3G network, AeroMobile has revealed a significant uptake of mobile data usage by holidaymakers and business travellers throughout 2016, including tweeting, texting, emailing and calling.
Over the year, Aeromobile also saw a 22% increase in passengers using their mobiles onboard, and 14% growth in the number of text messages being sent.
By the end of 2016, more than half of AeroMobile’s airline partners offered aircraft with 3G connectivity, with the US, Australia and Ireland topping the table for 3G in-flight data usage.
It has also passed another milestone, having now connected one million flights, according to Kevin Rogers, AeroMobile’s chief executive.
“It wasn’t long ago that most travellers were unaware of inflight connectivity. Since launching 3G a year ago we’ve seen a significant increase in awareness and usage of our in-flight network as passengers can now access more services using their mobile phone," he said.
"It’s now becoming the norm to tweet from a plane or pick up that important email and we’re proud to continue to lead the way for inflight connectivity,” said .
