Simon Bingley, who joined the Yorkshire based, escorted coach tours specialist as group financial controller in October 2023, takes up the newly expanded role with immediate effect and joins the board.
Reporting to CEO Liam Race, he will be responsible for commercial performance across the group, including revenue, margin, pricing and channel performance, alongside financial planning and analysis, business performance and the delivery of key transformation programmes.
The appointment comes as Leger Shearings Group reports 16 consecutive months of year-on-year growth, with new business up 17% year-on-year and bookings for 2027 departures, already running nearly 25% ahead of the same point last year.
A chartered accountant (ACA) and ICAEW member, Bingley brings more than 10 years of post-qualification experience to the role. Before joining Leger Shearings Group, he was senior finance business partner at DFS Furniture plc and previously held senior finance positions at Benchmark Holdings plc and Grant Thornton.
Since joining the business, he has led the development of the group’s commercial finance and FP&A capabilities, helping embed a data-led approach to decision making that has supported record profitability and performance ahead of the company’s five-year strategic plan.
In his new position, Bingley will work alongside the executive team to drive commercial performance, oversee high-impact transformation initiatives and help deliver the group’s ambition to grow revenues beyond £100 million.
Liam Race, CEO of Leger Shearings Group, said: “I’m thrilled to see Simon step into the commercial director role, a position I held myself before becoming CEO, and one that sits right at the heart of how this business grows.
"Simon has been instrumental to our success. Since joining in 2023 he has built a genuine strength in commercial finance and data-led decision making, and he has been a real enabler in delivering record profitability and performance that is running well ahead our five-year strategic plan."
