McCarthy, who previously worked at easyJet, has 10 years’ experience in account management, sales and business development roles with bed banks and tour operators including Medhotels, Argo Holidays and Youtravel.com
Her appointment comes just weeks after Scott Hanney was named general manager of Traveltek’s customer services delivery team; a new role created to support the firm’s expansion. McCarthy will report to Hanney.
“Karen’s vast experience as a business support and account manager across several verticals including tour operators, bed banks and airlines, will help take our customer service support levels to new heights,” said Hanney. “She has the right personality and skillset to give our rapidly-growing portfolio of clients the attention they deserve and we welcome her to the Traveltek family.”
The 25-strong customer services delivery team has been established to ensure the technology specialist’s new and existing customers are well supported during the company’s current growth phase. The appointment follows the recent recruitment of Emma Stebbings to the customer services delivery team as key account manager.
Stebbings, who steps into the role with the East Kilbride-headquartered firm from Silversea Cruises, brings more than 15 years of industry experience to the position, which will see her provide customer support to Traveltek’s client portfolio.
Stebbings started her career at Bon Voyage Travel, selling holiday packages to America and Canada, and has since worked as a flight attendant with Air New Zealand before moving to Silversea.
“With a proven track record as a customer services specialist in roles that have given her true insight to what consumers and clients require, Emma will ensure we deliver on our promises and go the extra mile to keep our customers happy,” said Hanney.
“She has the right attitude and experience to serve our growing portfolio of global clients and I believe she’ll be a real asset.”
Stebbings said: “Joining Traveltek presents an exciting career move for me and I relish this opportunity to put my airline and cruise industry experience into action. Maintaining strong customer relationships is key to the sustained and successful growth of any business, and as Traveltek expands, I look forward to ensuring the company remains a market leader in service delivery, on par with its cutting-edge technology.”
At the end of last year, Traveltek secured an investment of £5.3 million from private equity fund manager YFM to fund product development and international expansion.
