The new service provides greater accessibility to Samoa’s unique blend of culture, natural beauty, and renowned island hospitality, while also creating an exciting new travel option for international visitors already exploring New Zealand who wish to extend their journey with an authentic South Pacific island experience.
The launch of the direct Auckland–Apia route enhances Samoa’s position as an accessible and compelling add-on destination for international travellers seeking to combine the landscapes, adventure, and attractions of New Zealand with the warmth, traditions, and tropical beauty of the Pacific Islands.
The inaugural Qantas service was celebrated with a traditional welcome ceremony at Faleolo International Airport, hosted by the Samoa Tourism Authority (STA), showcasing Samoa’s renowned hospitality and the cultural experiences that await arriving visitors.
The new route marks an important milestone in regional air connectivity, making it easier for travellers to access Samoa for holidays, family visits, cultural experiences, and island escapes.
“Samoa has always been a favourite destination for travellers seeking authentic experiences, and this new connection makes it easier for more visitors to discover our islands,” said Samoa Tourism Authority CEO Niumata Kitiona Pogi.
“Importantly, this service also provides an opportunity to welcome international travellers who are visiting New Zealand and looking to add a South Pacific destination to their itinerary. Samoa offers the perfect complement to a New Zealand holiday, providing visitors with the chance to experience our unique culture, pristine natural environment, and the genuine warmth of the Samoan people.”
The new Qantas service strengthens the long-standing relationship between Samoa and New Zealand, one of Samoa’s most important visitor markets, while supporting growth across leisure travel, visiting friends and relatives, and international tourism.
