Its Frenchness is felt in the red floral seat covers of the Salon, the 1950s posters adorning the walls of the Bistro, and the jazz bar vibe of Claude’s bar. The menu is similarly themed, featuring French wines paired with delicious cheeses and patisserie pastries.
And being able to enjoy all of this in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower (it really is just a five- minute walk to the world famous attraction) enables guests to enjoy five-star hotel accommodation in one of the capital’s best locations.
The swimming pool at the stern of the ship is perfect for guests wanting a quick dip before drying off in the Parisian sun under the retractable roof of the winter Garden.
Meanwhile, the Cave des Vin – an interactive dining experience offered to guests for €95 a head is also a nice – if expensive – touch, enabling passengers to enjoy a gastronomic experience with a difference, with guests accompanying the ship’s chef to the local markets before learning how to cook their five-course meal in the evening.
The Joie de Vivre is designed to offer guests exactly that – the joys of life, French-style. And the fact that guests are able to do this in Paris – the so-called City of Light, which has suffered so terribly in recent years – makes the line’s boldness in the face of these terror attacks all the more beautiful.
