The resort, which is located in the foothills of the Virunga volcano range close to Volcanoes national park, started welcoming guests in November.
Mohammed Al Shaibani, chief executive of Investment Corporation of Dubai and chairman of One&Only’s parent company Kerzner International, welcomed Kagame to the resort.
Gorilla’s Nest is the second One&Only property in the country – the first, One&Only Nyungwe House, in south-west Rwanda opened in 2018.
Michael Wale, chief executive of Kerzner International, said: “Our ambition is to become part of the soul of any destination we enter. We are thrilled to be introducing our second One&Only in Rwanda.
“Rwanda is the perfect location for One&Only, and we are proud to be part of the destination, working together with the Rwandan government to ensure the long-term sustainability of the experience.”
One&Only Gorilla’s Nest offers 21 lodges and suites featuring private decks and in-room fireplaces with views across the Rwandan landscape.
