Stephen Jones will take up his appointment during the latter part of 2017 and will report to the company’s chief executive.
He will be responsible for Wizz Air’s commercial, marketing and IT organisations with the chief commercial officer, chief marketing officer and head of information technology as direct reports.
Jones, who is a national of both New Zealand and the UK, has been the chief strategy, network and alliances Officer at Air New Zealand since 2013 during which time he was responsible for the airline’s overall corporate strategy, network development, alliances and sustainability.
Elsewhere, Iain Wetherall, currently head of financial planning and control and investor relations, has been promoted to chief financial officer with effect from August 1.
Heiko Holm, currently head of technical services, has been promoted to become Wizz Air’s chief technical officer, reporting to Diederik Pen, executive vice president and chief operations officer.
Wizz Air Holdings issued unaudited results for the three months to June 30 2017 on Wednesday.
Total revenue increased 28.6% to €469.3 million, ticket revenues increased 25.1% to €265.3 million and net profit for the period was a record €58.1 million in Q1, a year-on-year increase of 50.4%.
