A new floating marine education centre has launched in Mauritius. Ekol’o is a converted catamaran staffed by certified marine eco-guides who lead educational workshops on topics including sea turtles and humpback whales. They also offer guided snorkelling sessions along a dedicated educational trail, where observations feed directly into research data. This means every participant is an active contributor to the collective understanding of Mauritius's marine environment.

Funded by the Attitude Foundation, part of the Attitude Hotels group, Ekol’o sails between four northern hotels: Coin de Mire Attitude, Lagoon Attitude, Zilwa Attitude and Paradise Cove Boutique Hotel. The snorkelling trail connects marine zones alongside the group's four northern hotels, creating a coherent conservation corridor between the properties.

Ekol’o is open to guests at Attitude Hotels, school children, students and the local community in Mauritius – true to a conviction that Attitude’s meaningful projects must reach well beyond the hotel gates. For Attitude’s hotel guests, Ekol'o offers a different way to experience Mauritius – not as spectators of a lagoon, but as active participants in understanding the marine ecosystems around them.

The Attitude Foundation was set up in 2014 to preserve the island’s marine and coastal environments; culture, arts and crafts; and support the local community through social and solidarity initiatives. The floating marine education centre is an extension of the Marine Discovery Centre at Lagoon Attitude hotel in Mauritius, a research hub staffed by marine biologists.
