Yianis Group, which owns the Docklands property, is keen to promote the hotel’s independence following the change in management. The property has 142 rooms and suites including the 223 square-metre Presidential Suite.
Four Seasons, which had managed the riverside Canary Wharf hotel since its opening in 1999, also operates a property in London’s Park Lane.
The Canada-based chain is due to open another London hotel in “late” 2016 when the 100-room Four Seasons Hotel London at Ten Trinity Square, near the Tower of London, makes its debut.
The renamed Canary Riverside Plaza said it wanted to “move away from a more traditional approach to hospitality” and is now being run by general manager Ray Goertz, who has previously worked at The Ritz and ME London.
The hotel’s Quadrato restaurant has been taken over by new head chef Ricardo Garcia Sunet, who previously worked at Eelbrook restaurant in Fulham, who has already launched a new menu focusing on food from UK producers.
Other facilities include a riverside wellness centre and spa, with treatments by Organic Pharmacy, and an outdoor terrace overlooking the Thames.
The hotel was in the headlines earlier this year when reality TV star David Gest was found dead at the property in April.
Double rooms at Canary Riverside Plaza start at £200 per night.
