Located in Calistoga in northern Napa Valley, the resort will feature its own winery and hand-farmed vineyard, with a collection of wines produced under the direction of winemaker Thomas Brown.  

Working with Alcion Ventures and Bald Mountain Development, the resort is predicted to be open in early 2018 and will also feature 20 private one- and two-storey residence villas managed by Four Seasons.

J. Allen Smith, president and chief executive of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts said: “As we extend our presence in California, having a property in Napa Valley is essential. This is a unique opportunity to combine a privately-owned and operated winery and vineyard with a world-class luxury resort.”

Four Seasons’ “California Collection” already includes seven hotels throughout the Golden State, including San Francisco, The Biltmore in Santa Barbara, Westlake Village, Silicon Valley East Palo Alto, Residence Club North San Diego and two in Beverly Hills.

The latest project is one of 60 said to be under development with Four Seasons, which also has 96 hotels open and operating in 41 countries.

The Napa Valley property will also feature three food and beverage offerings, multiple pools, fitness centre and a spa featuring the natural geothermal waters unique to the Calistoga region.

Managing Partner at Alcion Ventures Martin Zieff said it had taken his firm “almost a decade” to find the opportunity in Napa Valley.

Meetings and events will also be on the agenda for the resort, with an “event barn” and 12 indoor and outdoor spaces.
