Having seen first hand the financial and wellbeing impact that the Thomas Cook collapse had on staff, the charity has developed to provide the services and expertise that they may need at a time when "everything seems so overwhelming".
It can refer people, at no cost, to its partner Citizens Advice Manchester (CAM) for expert advice on claiming the right benefits, budgeting, debt management and housing support.
"Recently we referred a self-employed tour manager to CAM for benefits advice and he was made aware of what additional benefits he could apply for whilst waiting for his self employed income support, helping him at a very difficult time," said Trudie Clements, Abta LifeLine director.
LifeLine can also help by providing emergency food vouchers to buy essential groceries, and in some cases grant a financial award to help with priority bills such as rent, mortgage and utilities.
If a colleague is really struggling with their mental health, LifeLine can refer them to The Centre for Crisis Psychology, who can provide 24/7 telephone support including counselling.
On the LifeLine website you can complete a simple online application form for assistance and find links to other agencies that can advise on payment holidays and other useful Covid-19 support information relevant to your situation.
For mental health support click here. Again, there is a simple online application form to complete.
"It is important to stress that everything is treated in strict confidence and in line with data protection," added Clements.
