This is the first time in four weeks that the summer months have been more popular than autumn, with October being the top departure month for the previous four weeks.
TravelSupermarket’s Emma Coulthurst said: “As the vaccination rollout and the latest lockdown easing continues to be heralded a success, in the last week there has been increased interest in summer 2021 overseas getaways.”
“Brits are also starting to search for holidays to the US, no doubt buoyed by the country’s successful vaccine roll out.”
More interest in long-haul destinations is illustrated by the fact that the most popular package holiday searches included the Maldives, Las Vegas, New York and Orlando in the past week, alongside Tenerife.
“It goes without saying that consumers still need much more detail on countries on the green list and we expect the government’s announcement on this to unlock more bookings,” added Coulthurst.
“We expect much more holiday interest once the much-anticipated green list is released. But there is still something else which also needs to be announced – reduced or free access to PCR Covid testing in the community.”
