The four times weekly route, announced in May, has been extended to a five times weekly service.

Flights will now depart Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Jet Airways will operate the route using Airbus A330-200 aircraft with business and economy cabins.

Lydia Nazareth, Jet Airways general manager UK and Ireland, said: “Jet Airways is committed to deepening both commerce and tourism ties between the two countries.

“Expanding our flight frequency allows us to give further choice to business and leisure travellers heading to Mumbai from the north of England.”

Outbound flights will depart Manchester at 9.35am arriving Mumbai 12.40am (+1). Inbound services will depart Mumbai at 2.30am arriving Manchester 7.55am.

The first flight will depart November 5, with return economy fares leading in from £389.

Julian Carr, Manchester Airport aviation director, said the move was a “clear indication” of Jet Airways’ commitment to Manchester and a sign of “the demand for people from the North to travel to India”.

“We look forward to the route starting in November and the host of economic benefits it will bring here in the North,” Carr added.
