Project 100 has seen G and Planeterra partner with dozens of community tourism projects globally, as well as lead on a number of standalone enterprises.
All 100 projects will be available to visit on G’s tours next year and beyond.
The final 10 confirmed Project 100 efforts include partnerships with a Greek social enterprise that sells local produce to generate cash for homeless shelters and refugee organisations, and a women-owned cooperative in Oaxaca, Mexico, dedicated to preserving local Zapoteca culture through handicrafts.
Additionally, Planeterra has announced a new Home for the Holidays fundraising campaign to raise a further US $15,000 by the end of the year.
"Around the world, communities reliant on tourism have gone almost a year without income – funds typically used to uplift families, provide education to children and protect the environment," said the two partners.
"This money will be used to help with training and support as the projects prepare to welcome travellers back when tourism starts to return."
Project 100 was launched in 2015 by Planeterra and G founder, Bruce Poon Tip, with the five-year goal of helping 100 community tourism enterprises "realise the benefits of tourism".
On announcing the final 10 projects, Poon Tip reiterated his belief local communities should be at the heart of tourism, especially as the industry and the world rebounds from the Covid crisis.
“We were determined to complete Project 100 this year, as these communities are going to need travellers more than ever following the devastating impact of the global pandemic," said Poon Tip.
"Most travellers know what an incredible experience it is to eat at a community-run restaurant, to buy souvenirs directly from an artisan, or to empower a women’s business in the travel industry.
"Now there are 100 opportunities to help change people’s lives through community tourism, simply by travelling on a G Adventures tour."
All 100 projects across 57 countries can be viewed on the Planeterra website.
