The budget carrier has welcomed Spanish prime minister Pedro Sanchez’s commitment to reopening to overseas tourism from the start of July, with chief executive Eddie Wilson claiming Italy, Cyprus, Greece, Portugal and now Spain are "open for holidays".
Wilson said Ryanair would be offering daily flights from countries across northern Europe, including the UK and Ireland, to holiday hotspots to serve any demand for the July and August family holiday season.
“After four months of lockdown, we welcome these moves by governments in Italy, Greece, Portugal, Spain and Cyprus to open their borders, remove travel restrictions and scrap ineffective quarantines," said Wilson.
"British and Irish families, who have been subject to lockdown for the last 10 weeks, can now look forward to booking their much needed family holiday to Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, and other Mediterranean destinations, for July and Aug before the schools return in September."
Ryanair will be offering up to 1,000 daily flights from 1 July, operating with new health guidelines to protect passengers and crew. These include the mandatory use of face masks at all times, in terminals and in-flight, which Wilson said met new EU guidance on safe flying amid the coronavirus pandemic.
"We look forward to welcoming millions of Ryanair passengers and their families back onboard and flying them on holiday as Europe’s economies begin to recover from these difficult recent lockdowns," Wilson added.
