The high street agency chain welcomed the government’s move to end quarantine for fully vaccinated travellers returning to England from amber list countries from next Monday (19 July).
“However, hurdles and confusion remain, which must be addressed in the 15 July update to be fair to travellers,” said Trailfinders in a blog.
The company calls for Foreign Office (FCDO) advice to “match” the traffic light status of destinations as travelling against all non-essential travel advice “means most travelling without insurance”.
Trailfinders also wants all testing to be scrapped for fully vaccinated travellers when they return from a green list country.
“After all they are returning from countries with many fewer cases than us. If there is no test required following a train from Manchester to Bristol, then what is the logic behind a test following a flight home from Malta or Antigua?” asked the agency.
Other requests include scrapping VAT on PCR tests, increasing the number of border officials to reduce airport delays, and to “standardise” advice across the four UK nations.
Trailfinders added the government should “urgently address the issues with track and trace to restore confidence in it, or else abandon it”.
