Nick Harding-McKay, managing director of the London-based agency, told TTG the client had booked five breaks within the past two weeks with departures between May and November 2021.
“The client said she’s had enough of Covid – let’s spend the money for both this year and last year’s holidays,” he said.
The customer has booked three trips to the Maldives, as well as holidays to Tenerife and Kos, covering a range of family celebrations, including her 50th birthday, her father’s 80th birthday and her children graduating from university.
“It’s great to see that a client has so much confidence in the travel industry that they’re booking these holidays,” added Harding-McKay.

“She’s a lovely client and she wanted to get her bookings in when there are lots of deals around. She feels prices will go up later in the year and wants a deal.
“She compares our prices with online sites, but is willing to pay a little bit more than online because she would rather deal with a human.”
Harding-McKay said that the client was realistic about whether she would be able to take the first holiday to the Maldives in May and was willing to rebook if the trip had to be postponed due to continuing Covid restrictions.
“It’s nice to see somebody having that faith to make these bookings and wants personal service,” he added.
Harding-McKay said Travel Designers was on track for the “best February” in its history, helped by a surge in bookings for Club Med’s winter 2022 ski holidays, which have just gone on sale.
“They are making sure they get booked for next winter – there are a lot of advance bookings – as they know they can’t ski this season,” he said.
“We’ve had a lot of bookings for next year and also for September onwards. It could be that we have problems with availability and higher pricing later in the year as we’re going to have a lot of demand.”
