The Coronavirus Response Award is a new award, recognising media businesses who have gone above and beyond to support their readers over the last eight months.
In praise of TTG, the judges said: “The combined initiatives of supporting advertisers, paid-for online events and petitioning government means that TTG will be well positioned as things improve. This was a coherent and well-executed strategy to support the travel trade and ensure the sustainability of their own business.”
TTG was shortlisted in a number of categories, including Brand of the Year and Diversity Initiative of the Year, while editor Sophie Griffiths was shortlisted in the Editor of the Year category.
Commenting on the PPA’s recognition of TTG, CEO Daniel Pearce said: “The TTG team has worked tirelessly since the start of lockdown to support our readers wherever we can, from our dedicated coronavirus news and business support hubs and our fortnightly half-day seminars over the summer, to our #SaveTravel and Holiday To Help Out campaigns.
“This has been a year like no other, but we’ve been proud to support TTG readers throughout this crisis. We’re honoured to have been recognised by the PPA for all our hard work – and we look forward to continuing our huge efforts to support the travel industry as we emerge from this crisis, and beyond.”
