Retail agents from Thomas Cook and Tui are among those taking part in the go “troppo” campaign to raise cash for Abta LifeLine with participants donating £1 to the charity.
As well as dressing up in garish shirts, Abta is hoping travel companies will host events such as tropical-themed bake sales, hula-hooping competitions or mocktail-making sessions.
Avis Budget Group, which is partnering with Abta LifeLine this year, will also be rewarding the best retail shop with a £150 voucher to go towards a staff night out, so agencies should post plenty of pictures of their “troppo” activities.
LifeLine supports colleagues in the travel industry who are suffering from financial hardship caused by changes in their circumstances such as medical conditions, bereavement, disabilities and domestic violence.
The charity gives financial grants to help pay for items such as wheelchairs or emergency repairs, as well as essential daily living costs including food and utility bills.
