Lyndsey Woolley, her partner and daughter fell violently ill at the Palm Wings resort in Altinkum in 2015, North Wales Live reports.

During a hearing at Prestatyn County Court, Tui argued it could not be certain the family’s illnesses were caused by the hotel’s food and said its clients had not reported the issue to hotel staff or Tui during the trip.

However, the court heard a food hygiene report published two weeks before the family’s arrival found cooked and uncooked meats stored together, out of date chilled foods, and fridges not at the required temperature.

The hotel argued these issues had been addressed, but another audit carried out later that year found they had not.

District judge Wendy Owen said there was clear evidence of a link and that the hotel was “rather laid-back” in its attitude. She awarded £5,400 in compensation, plus costs of £16,000.

A Tui UK spokesperson said: "We acknowledge the court’s judgment and would like to apologise to Ms Woolley for her experience."
